YOUNGSTERS celebrated Ghana’s Independence Day with a special visitor from the African country.

Children at Alton Park Junior School spent Wednesday March 6 learning about Ghana and how Fairtrade can make a real difference to the lives of children who live there.

In honour of the special occasion Mr Winfred Gelli, who is headteacher of the Elikem School at Bodumase in Ghana, visited to give a talk.

At break time the children tried Fairtrade snacks including chocolate bars made with Ghanaian cocoa.

good to see childrens education on fairtrade products being brought into the classroom.
the world is a market place, but for so long, certain traded products made very little for the producers of the basic Ingredients, but this changes with fairtrade marketed products.
lets hope Mr Winfred Gelli will see some pupils visiting his school In Ghana one day.

here is a link to a fairtrade farm group in Elikem, Ghana.
