Frinton: Youth action day launched to build on Olympic legacy

A MASSIVE youth day will be launched this year in a bid to build on the Olympic legacy and cut down on anti-social behaviour.

The youth action day will bring scores of clubs and groups together for an activities extravaganza in September.

It has been modelled on similar event held in 2008, which attracted thousands of youngsters and families.

Chairman of the organisation committee David Lines said: “The famous quote from children of all generations is that they are bored and there is nothing to do.

“This is our response to show them that isn’t true.

“There is an opportunity for us to build on that Olympic legacy and provide motivation and inspiration for children to get involved."

The event will be held at the Frinton campus of Tendring Technology College. It will include exhibitions, demonstrations, entertainment and refreshments.

More than 50 clubs held exhibitions at the 2008 event, which caused a massive boom in memberships across the area.

Mr Lines added: “The last event was a runaway success.

“Another youth action day is long overdue, and we want to make it even bigger and better."
