9:00am Sunday 3rd March 2013 in News
A FORMER carer celebrated with family and friends after reaching a massive birthday milestone.
Cynthia Cook celebrated her 105th birthday last week.
Family members flooded in from around the country for a party at Gairloch Care Home in Clacton.
Son Brian Cook said: “We had a lovely party and it went off really well.
“My mother had a great time and that’s the main thing.
Cynthia, originally from Lowestoft, moved to the area when she was in her 20s after meeting her husband.
Her ever-expanding family now includes four children, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Brian added: “She used to work as a carer, visiting people in their own homes. She worked into her 70s and is still going strong.
“At this rate she’s going to outlive me!
“You don’t hear of many people making it to 105.
"She is still doing really well for her age. Last year she broke her hip in a fall, but she is still battling on. She really is amazing.”
