Jaywick artwork returns after county-wide tour

ARTWORK created by Jaywick artists is on show in the district after a two-year tour of Essex.

Jaywick Martello Tower’s artists in residence created the work which is now on long-term loan to Tendring Council and on display at Clacton Town Hall.

The 14ft artwork – called Impressions of Jaywick – was created as part of the Essex Summer of Art in 2010.

Since then it has since been part of a touring exhibition across Essex.

County Hall culture boss Jeremy Lucas said: “It is wonderful that the artwork has been offered a permanent home in its home community.”

Impressions of Jaywick was created by Coralina Cattrell and Jean Buckland as part of the Jaywick Martello Tower Coastal Open art trail.

Coralina said: “It was a privilege to be asked. We wanted to portray a sense of community and freedom.”
