Council leader welcomes extra beach huts for Clacton

EIGHT beach huts will be built on an empty site on Clacton seafront.

Tendring Council will use a concrete platform on Kings Promenade, near Trafalgar Road, to site the new huts, after plans got the go-ahead.

The beach huts will be named after the town’s old lifeboats.

Part of the area will continue to be used by the neighbouring seafront kiosk as a picnic area.

Council leader Peter Halliday said: “We have more than 3,000 beach huts around our coastline and they prove very popular with both residents and people from outside the area.

“Although we do not have a waiting list as such they are snapped up pretty quickly and are a valuable part of our offer on our seafronts.

"Any increase in the number we have in this popular location is to be welcomed.”
