TWO top events will go ahead despite concerns surrounding the insurance of Walton’s biggest crowd-pullers.

It was revealed by the Gazette that organisers were struggling to find affordable insurance cover for Walton’s events.

But it has been confirmed that the Frinton and Walton Fun Run and the Tendring College classic car show will definitely go ahead this year.

The two events are run by Tendring College Association at Tendring Technology College and are run using their own insurance policy, separate from other events in the area.

Association chairman Lorraine Hood said: “With the other events in the town possibly being under threat we thought it was important to clarify our position.

“We go for our own insurance and are not normally covered by the same block as other events.

“It is good to be able to confirm it. We get more than 600 runners taking part in the fun run and about 150 cars at the classic car show.

“They are big events for the area and very important to Frinton and Walton."

The fun run has been running for 27 years, and will take place on May 12.

The car show is in its third year after being rained off last year, and will take place on June 23.

Organisers of the other top events in the area, including Walton Carnival and the other classic car show are still trying to secure insurance to allow the events to go ahead.
