Post office outreach service to remain following trial
9:00am Friday 22nd February 2013 in News
A POST office outreach service will remain in Great Bentley permanently following a successful trial.
Great Bentley Post Office was closed following a series of cost-cutting post office closures across the region.
It reopened at Great Bentley Garage, in Plough Road, for a trial period.
It will now be open from 9am to 1pm on Mondays and from 9am to 12 noon on Thursdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Mark Lawrence, the Post Office’s regional manager, said the “outreach” service was coping with demand, but that the situation will be reviewed if the number of customers increases.
He said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Great Bentley and we are confident that the hosted outreach services will meet the needs of these local communities.
“The Post Office has made a commitment to no more permanent branch closure programme.”
He added that his “long-term” goal was to find a more suitable and permanent site for the post office.
