Schoolboy set for night to remember at the opera
A SCHOOLBOY’S first taste of the stage is set to be a night to remember.
Elliot Thickbroom, from Clacton, will be performing in front of hundreds of people when he appears in Madam Butterfly by the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus at Clacton’s Princes Theatre.
Almost 500 seats have been sold already, but there are still some tickets left.
Assistant theatre manager Melissa Diplock said they were thrilled by the amount of interest in the theatre's first opera.
“We were not sure how an opera and ballet would go down but it has proved really popular and we are really pleased we booked them,” she said.
“We have sold 495 tickets with takings of more than £13,500.”
Sunday's show will be subtitled and will include a 30-piece orchestra.
Seven-year-old Elliot, who goes to Engaines Primary School in Little Clacton, was chosen from the Princes Theatre-based Youth Theatre Workshops.
Madam Butterfly is his first stage production.
