Third of people on incapacity benefit found fit for work
7:00am Thursday 14th February 2013 in News
MORE than a third of people re-tested for incapacity benefits in Tendring have been found fit enough to work.
Claimants are being reassessed following the replacement of incapacity benefit with the employment and support allowance.
Of the 12,000 re-assessed in Essex so far, more than 3,500 now face having to work or claim jobseekers' allowance.
Disability support groups say people were worried about the new rules.
Those found fit for work will no longer be able to claim for ongoing sickness benefit.
Paschal Cane, of the Essex Coalition of Disabled People, said: “We have had some people who have been re-assessed as being capable for work and that has created anxiety without question.
“But we are trying to support people in that situation.”
Of those reassessed, 36 per cent of claimants in Tendring have been ruled fit to work.

Stopping immigration and forcing people to take jobs would undoubtedly help but another underlaying problem is that our living standard and expectations are high when considering that most items are produced in areas of the world that have lower labour costs to manufacture the consumer goods. I am not saying we should revert to slave labour by any means but unless that inbalance is resolved the country is destined to continue the decay and rot it has sufferred over the last 60 odd years

but wait, if they "are" fit for work,
then the employment service has its vast network of local employers all queuing with local offers of jobs for the newly released fit for workers to be taken on to being wage earners, all working for a fair days pay after a fair days work.
the only snag is, there are no fair paid work available.
Pipe dreams & ill thought out Ideas from well paid thinkers.
