Clacton: Care homes appeal for help with dementia project
3:00pm Tuesday 5th February 2013 in News
A PAIR of Clacton care homes are appealing for help in collecting items to boost residents suffering with dementia.
Edensor Care Centre and Argyll Independent Living Centre are assembling reminiscence boxes.
The two care homes, both run by Elder Homes Group, want to collect items to bring the past to life for residents.
A spokesman said: “We are looking for anything from a 1950s radio to a 1920s lipstick case, a regional history book or anything else which would help our residents.
“We want to create the perfect environment for dementia sufferers.
“Looking at books and items from the past is the key to creating a healthy environment here, not just for the elderly but for those suffering with dementia and Alzheimers.”
Any items donated will be used in memory games, conversations and quizzes.
Anyone who can help can contact Edensor on 01255 423317 or Argyll on 01255 423227.
