Record numbers sign up to save lives
3:00pm Monday 4th February 2013 in News
VOLUNTEERS have signed up in record numbers to help save lives.
The East of England Ambulance Service ran an awareness campaign highlighting the work of community first responders.
And the campaign worked with 50 people signing up.
First responders are members of the community who are called to provide immediate and urgent medical care at life threatening emergencies and then assist once paramedics arrive.
Spokesman Lorna Hayes said: “The week was such an incredible success - it went way beyond expectations.
“We are now looking at making this an annual event. It has been a lot of hard work but so worth it, especially if it means more community first responders to save the lives of more patients.”
