Clacton/Colchester: Venues donated for band comp
9:00am Saturday 26th January 2013 in News
VENUE bosses have volunteered their premises as a platform for budding musicians.
Clacton LiveGig, an organisation which has set up battle of the bands competitions for the last two years has been searching for a new venue after outgrowing the Geisha in Clacton.
Organisers appealed for help in the Gazette after finding it impossible to secure a cost-effective solution.
They were immediately offered several venues and have now organised this year’s contest.
The opening rounds will be held at TP Sports Bar in Colchester and the Liquor Lounge in Clacton, with the final also being held in Clacton.
Organisers are still hoping to secure a venue in Harwich to create a third preliminary round.
Adrian Simcock said: “We were delighted with the response.
“We’ve got a couple of big venues on board now and I just hope we can fill them.
“I want any young bands from across the area who want to showcase their talents and get experience of playing in front of a crowd to sign up.
“The future is looking really good for our competition now.”
