Anger as raiders target rugby clubhouse in Clacton

CASH and bottles of alcohol were stolen during a raid on Clacton Rugby Club.

The Valley Road clubhouse was broken into by thieves who forced their way in after taking tiles off the roof.

After getting into the building via a loft hatch, they stole around £800 from a safe, in addition to taking alcohol from behind the bar.

At the moment the cost of the damage caused is still unknown.

The raid was discovered when the club’s players and officials met for a training session on Tuesday night.

“It’s made everyone so angry, to think people could do something like this,” said Seasiders first-team captain Jake Buxey.

“It’s mindless and demoralising for everyone who works so hard at the club, especially as it’s not the first time something like this has happened.”
