Tendring Council works to cut snow disruption

WASTE collections will go ahead as normal in Tendring despite heavy snowfall.

Tendring Council waste contractors Veolia said they were hoping to get round all properties as normal, with any homes missed out being visited tomorrow.

The council’s horticultural services and engineering teams were also redeployed from their usual duties to boost the gritting process.

A team of 25 workers were sent out to spread grit across roads and pavements.

Council leader Peter Halliday said: “I am delighted that Veolia are carrying out their normal waste and recycling rounds to homes around the District.

“I am also grateful to all those staff who are taking on different roles in an attempt to keep any possible disruption to an absolute minimum.”

Why not do the job they are employed for, I always had to and so do millions of others. When I was a milkman I still had to go out in all conditions, even heavy snow. People are too insipid these days to push themselves a little bit more.
