Battle of the bands showcase venue appeal

A FUNDRAISING musical competition needs help in finding a new venue after outgrowing its previous building.

Organisers Clacton LiveGig have organised the battle of the bands competition in the town for the last two years.

It was set up to showcase young bands in Tendring and raise funds for Brightlingsea youth club 4Youth.

The competition has been held at the Geisha in past years, but organisers are now looking for a bigger venue.

Adrian Simcock said: “We are appealing for help in finding new venues in Tendring for the qualifying rounds and the final.

“For last year’s final people were packed in like sardines, so we really have to upgrade.

“It’s great that we have so much support and the competition is growing every year.

“Hopefully this will also allow us to include even more bands and show how many talented musicians we have here."

Organisers are also now asking for bands to sign up for this year’s competition, which should kick off in March.
