Wardens capture stray dog in fields

WARDENS have caught a dog which was running wild through a farmer’s fields for more than a week.

The Tendring Council dog wardens captured the young German Shepherd in fields between Weeley and Thorpe.

They now hope to reunite the pup with its owners.

Dog warden Allen East said: “We received a number of calls from concerned members of the public but we could not get near the dog as she was terrified.

“With the prospect of increasingly cold weather setting in I set the trap in a field at about 3.30pm on Monday and got a call at 7.30pm to say we had been successful.”

Mr East said the dog is good natured, has been well looked after and is not undernourished.

“She’s about a year to 18 months old and someone must know who she belongs to,” he added.

“I don’t know if she got loose or was abandoned but we need to reunite her with her owners.”

The German Shepherd is now being looked after at a rescue centre.

Anyone with information should contact the wardens on 0255 686767.
