Holocaust memorial ceremony to take place in Clacton
3:26pm Wednesday 16th January 2013 in News
A CEREMONY will be staged on Clacton seafront paying tribute to Holocaust victims.
Tendring Council chairman Danny Mayzes will join members of the Colchester and District Jewish Community at the Sunken Rose Garden ceremony on Marine Parade West.
It will take place on January 27 – known as Holocaust Memorial Day – at 11am.
Councillor Mayzes said: “It is a chance for all of us to take time out to consider all those who lived through the terrible events of the Holocaust.
“I would like to invite residents of Tendring from all religious groups to come along and join with me and members of the Jewish community as a mark of respect.”
A poster display remembering the Holocaust will also be set up in the foyer of Clacton Town Hall.
Holocaust Memorial Day was first observed in 2001 after being set up the previous year.
