Tendring escapes worst of snow as temperatures plunge

THE emergency services have reported a quiet night after Tendring escaped the worst of the Arctic weather.

Much of Essex was hit by snow but there was hardly any in the district, despite plummeting temperatures overnight.

Essex Police had warned motorists to take extra precautions if they ventured out in heavy snow.

Gritters were also out in force, with Essex Highways' fleet of 60 machines treating the county's roads.
