Trains cancelled ahead of snow

WINTER weather has cancelled trains and delayed services ahead of forecast snow.

Greater Anglia has imposed a 60mph speed limit to its services between London and Ipswich in both directions today, Monday January 14.

The speed restrictions have been put in place to reduce the risk of snow being drawn into the electric motors which can damage them.

It is also to prevent the build-up of snow and ice underneath trains to prevent damage to track and signals when it falls from the carriages.

The services below involving Colchester and Clacton have been changed or cancelled.

Services from London Liverpool Street:

15:38 Liverpool Street – Colchester Town will call additionally at Ingatestone and Hatfield Peverel 

17:32 Liverpool Street – Clacton will start from Colchester

15:58 Ingatestone – Colchester - Cancelled

18:18 Liverpool Street – Ipswich - Cancelled

18:38 Liverpool Street – Ipswich - Cancelled

19:18 Liverpool Street – Clacton will start from Colchester
