SUPPORTERS of a north Essex charity are being urged to take part in a fundraising day next month.
The Samaritans’ Colchester, Tendring and Suffolk Borders branch is backing the nationwide ‘Feel Good Friday’ to boost funds and awareness.
The February 1 initiative is aimed at company workforces and has a comedy theme.
Staff are being asked to get involved in feel-good activities and make a donation to Samaritans, whose 20,665 volunteers provide a listening ear to people struggling to cope.
“This is a super initiative, and we urge as many organisations as possible to get involved,” said a spokesman.
“It may be fun, buit there is a very serious purpose behind it, and that is to raise money and awareness of Samaritans’ work.”
The Samaritans have launched Guess the Giggle, a competition involving Graham Norton, and celeb supporters Linda Nolan, Alesha Dixon, Craig Revel Horwood, June Sarpong and Claudia Winkleman.
Participants playing on the Feel Good Friday website can win dinner for two with Samaritans celebrity ambassador Linda Nolan.
