Clacton slimmers lose 685 stone

SLIMMERS in Clacton are celebrating after losing almost 685 stone between them last year.

The Slimming World club, which meet sat Brotherhood Hall, in St Osyth Road, said more than 34 of its members reached their ideal weight last year and 76 managed to lose ten per cent of their body weight.

The club’s 180 members lost a total of 685 stone – an average of almost four stone each.

Carole Bloomfield, who runs the group, said: “At this time of year, we are asking all members who have unopened sweets or goodies over to bring them into the group and we will take them to Shorefields School for children with special needs.

“They raffle them off to buy equipment for the school.

“You really don’t have to eat everything to finish it off – this way will be better for you and the school.”

Over the past year the club has raised £850 for Scottys Little Soldiers charity and £622 for St Helena Hospice.
