Police quiz teen in Clacton rape probe

A TEENAGER has been arrested following the alleged rape of a girl close to a primary school in Clacton.

The 16-year-old girl told police she was assaulted near Alton Park Junior School on New Year’s Eve.

The victim was taken to Colchester General Hospital by paramedics after she suffered abdominal injuries.

Police were called at 10pm on Monday.

They searched with dogs and the force’s helicopter was also called in.

A 16-year-old was later arrested on suspicion of rape and robbery at 11pm in nearby Cherry Tree Avenue.

An alleyway between Alton Park Road and Blenheim Road was cordoned off by police while an examination of the scene took place.

The arrested youth was questioned by detectives at Clacton police station.

He was released on police bail until March 4.
