A MAN has denied murdering his mother in her flat in Clacton last November.

Peter Dickson denied the charge when he made a brief appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court today.

The 37-year-old is accused of murdering his mother Carol Cooper at her home on November 2 last year.

The body of Mrs Cooper, 66, was found by police after officers forced their way into her flat in St Vincent Road at around 7pm.

The mother-of-three was declared dead at the scene.

Her son was arrested at the premises.

Dickson, a carpet fitter who also lives in St Vincent Road, will face trial for murder in April.

The court heard the trial is listed to last for two weeks and will start on April 29.

Dickson was remanded in custody until then. There was no application for bail.
