PROUD parents Reg and Carol Shorter had the perfect start to 2013 with the birth of "miracle" baby Lilia.

The Clacton couple had been trying for a baby for an astonishing 13 years.

But IVF treatment finally paid off for Carol and Reg as little Lilia popped into the world on time.

Carol, 40, said: “I think it’s still sinking in that she’s here - she’s our miracle.”

Reg, 53, of Groom Park estate, he was not surprised Lilia had arrived on cue at Colchester General Hospital.

“When we got the due date everyone said it will come on New Year’s Day because Carol is very regimented," he said.

“But we were happy whatever time she came.”
