A DAUGHTER has slammed ambulance waiting times after her elderly mother was left on the floor with a broken hip for two hours before paramedics arrived.

Aline Baldwin, 93, slipped and fell in her bathroom at Read House care home in Frinton on December 7.

She was discovered by carers a short time later and an ambulance was called just before 7.40pm.

Carers suspected Mrs Baldwin had fractured her hip so they did not move her.

After repeated phone calls an ambulance eventually arrived at 9.54pm, by which time Mrs Baldwin had been on the floor for more than two and a quarter hours.

Her daughter Sally Strutt, of Rectory Road, Great Holland, said: “That is an awfully long time to be stuck on the floor with that injury.

“I think every incident like this needs to be highlighted so that lessons can be learnt.

“The wait that people are being forced to endure while in extreme pain is completely unacceptable."

Mrs Baldwin had surgery on her hip but came through the operation well.

She is still in hospital but hopes to be back in Frinton for Christmas.
