CONMEN, rogue traders and predatory salesman have targeted more than 60 pensioners in north Essex.
A joint Essex Police and Trading Standards operation has been launched to combat those taking advantage of some of the most vulnerable in society.
Officers hope to be able to identify and prosecute those preying on the pensioners and carrying out poor quality building, roofing, gardening and repair work.
Chief Insp Cat Barrie, district commander for Tendring, said: “These residents live a quiet life and trust everyone, sadly making them vulnerable."
Residents are being urged to get and check the trader ID, ask them questions, take their time and remember you can cancel purchases over £35 within seven days.
Also if you want to say no do not be concerned about asking them to leave.
