Charity youngsters decorate Clacton's Christmas tree
3:00pm Wednesday 12th December 2012 in News
A CHRISTMAS tree in Clacton town centre has been given extra sparkle this year thanks to youngsters from a community charity.
The group, from Inclusion Ventures, made decorations which are now hanging from the 30ft tree in the town square.
They came up with the idea and asked council chairman Danny Mayzes if they could decorate the tree.
Mr Mayzes thanked the Clacton and Jaywick youngsters for their hard work.
“It is great that they wanted to be involved and they have certainly added some extra colour this year,” he said.
“Inclusion Ventures operates within my own ward of Rush Green and I am pleased that a group of young people within my area has made such a fantastic festive contribution to the community during my year as chairman.”
The tree was a present to Clacton from waste contractors Veolia Environmental Services. Clacton security firm GCS Alarms also put up 4,000 LED lights and baubles.
Inclusion Ventures was set up to help improve the lives of vulnerable youngsters from disadvantaged areas in west Clacton.
