Charge: A driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing Ruth Smith's death
A MOTORIST will appear in court next month after being charged with causing the death of an elderly pedestrian in Weeley.
Ruth Smith, 82, from Weeley, died in Clacton Road after she was hit by a Vauxhall Vectra in Clacton Road shortly before 4pm on January 20.
A 23-year-old man from Clacton was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with causing death by careless driving.
He has been released on police bail to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on December 11.
