Event to boost Tendring tourism

First published in News

AN event has been launched to help boost tourism in Tendring.

Business bosses and tourism leaders across the district have been invited to the event in Clacton.

It has been organised to discuss the past year and identify areas where improvements can be made to boost tourism next year.

The event will be hosted by Tendring Council at the Princes Theatre in Clacton on December 6, from 9.30am to 1.30pm.

Council deputy leader Peter Halliday said: “We need to work together to strengthen this industry which employs around 15 per cent of the workforce in Tendring.

“It is important to learn from the past and come up with a plan for the future which will take us forward pulling in the same direction.”

Anyone in the tourism industry who wants to attend should contact Louise Parkes by November 23 on 01255 686668 or lparkes@tendringdc.gov.uk.

I, live in Clacton, and as most people who live in Tendring, were issued with a free parking permit, this year, how many of them couldn`t even use it because all the carparks were full, with pay and non paying drivers. In my opinion to attract more tourism, I, think there should be more concentration on more parking area`s and reasonable tariffs. If I, was one of many day trippers, coming to Clacton, and just drove around, and around just to find somewhere to park, I, would not come back a second time. More carparking spaces would surely help the tourist`s

Cleaning up Walton and making the Promenade more appealing to visitors should also be a priority as well as more parking and less stuff cluttering the pavements from shopkeepers putting their wares there.

The council have not quite got it right yet with the free parking for locals. It should be free parking for one hour only so you can get your shopping in Clacton etc then get out again. This would keep a constant changing of customers for the shops during the day. This would stop the car parks from clogging up and give fresh people a place to park.. There should also be a charge for parking anywhere along the seafront in the district. . No consessions there at all.
That's the way to go.

I totally agree with Roger Bacon
If you go to Gt Yarmouth, Southend hell anywhere you have to pay to park along the seafront, and to be honest I expect to pay
I will never understand that we don’t have metres even if it is just for the summer we could always have concessions for locals
But I tell you now people who arrive here in cars bring there own food I know because I have seen the rubbish they leave,
They come park for free spend nothing in the town and go home leaving all there crap behind them
So fact they cost money
