Volunteer gardener's award for transforming Kirby Cross station
12:00pm Sunday 28th October 2012 in News
A KEEN gardener has been handed an award for revitalising Kirby Cross railway station.
Tim Ward volunteered to be a station adopter in Kirby Cross and has been revamping the garden over the past year.
He has now been given the Most Improved Station award at this year’s Greater Anglia Station Adopter awards ceremony.
Judges were impressed with the dazzling floral display created by Tim at the station.
Andrew Goodrum from Greater Anglia said: “Tim’s work at Kirby Cross has revitalised the station garden, brightening up the area and enhancing the station environment for visitors.
“We’d like to thank him for his efforts and congratulate him on this award.”
The awards were set up to recognise the volunteers who work to improve the appearance of Greater Anglia stations across the country.
The station adopter scheme is run in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk to give people in the community the chance to boost their local facilities.
