Clacton teacher claims national award

A CLACTON teacher has been named top of the class after clinching a national teaching award.
Up-and-comer Liz Bailey, an English teacher at Clacton County High School, claimed the top prize for best newcomer at this year’s national teaching awards.
She was handed the regional award in July after being nominated by a pupil.
Liz has now been crowned as Outstanding New Teacher of the Year at the annual teaching awards, nicknamed the “teachers’ Oscars”.
The academic whizz, who also has a doctorate, joined Clacton County High School as a trainee in 2010.
By her second year she was made head of English, and judges were blown away by her ability.
They said: “Rarely have we been so sure we have found a winner of exceptional talent.
“We were bowled over by this teacher, not in a charismatic way but in a very deep, professional leader way.
“She is super-intelligent, but emotionally intelligent too. She is already a leader beyond her own classroom and she will go far.”
