Section of seawall undergoing repairs
2:30pm Friday 26th October 2012 in News
A SECTION of seawall is being repaired at Devereux Farm.
The Environment Agency started work at the Kirby-le-Soken farm on Monday.
They will be repairing the back face of the seawall, as well as removing loose grout from the site after traces of asbestos was found in it.
Operations manager David Knagg said: “We would like to reassure people that it is safe for them to walk along the footpaths on the seawalls that contain asbestos in the bitumen grout.
“Firmly bound asbestos does not readily release hazardous or breathable fibres, therefore the risk to people and wildlife is minimal.”
Access to the section of seawall footpath between Horsey Island and Peters Point will be limited while work is ongoing.
It should be completed early in November.
