Chopper search for stranded yacht near Brightlingsea

A RESCUE chopper was called to search for a stranded yacht which went missing near Brightlingsea.

Two men sailed from Alresford creek onto the River Colne on Thursday.

They became lost after darkness fell and called the coastguard for help.

The West Mersea lifeboat and RAF rescue helicopter were launched to search for the yacht.

It was found by the helicopter, which hovered overhead to help the lifeboat find the location and reach the stranded boat.

The lifeboat towed the yacht into Brightlingsea where it was met by Clacton mobile coastguard team.
