A MUM’S campaign to cut knife crime following the death of her son will see a fundraising shop set up to raise awareness.

Caroline Shearer, from Clacton, has launched her own anti-weapons campaign, called Only Cowards Carry, in memory of tragic son Jay.

One of Jay’s friends, Lillie Cull-Carr, 17, is helping to run the campaign.

She said: “We want to change society's view on carrying weapons and the children are the key to that.”

A campaign shop will open in Colchester, selling pencils, erasers, bumper stickers, wrist bands, mugs and t-shirts, to raise funds and awareness.

Lillie added: “We are launching the shop this Saturday and it will be open until the following Sunday.

“People will be able to purchase goods, donate and also follow the progress of the campaign."

Clacton MP Douglas Carswell and a Colchester United star will be at the official opening of the shop at 11 Lion Walk.
