90 years ago Addressing the annual meeting of the Farmers' Union, Mr E.G. Preyman MP said the Admiralty was face to face with another submarine crisis on a wider basis, and even more brutal than the last, and even more regardless of the ordinary laws of humanity, but as the former threat was defeated, this would be too. This onslaught will suffer the fate of its predescessor. The enemy's intention was to stop our food supplies and starve us into premature peace. Every farmer could do his bit to prevent that and this was the only thing the farmer should think about.
