MP Since - 2005 Majority - 920 Born - 03/05/1971. Single.

Education - Charterhouse. University of East Anglia. King's College, London, studied history.

Previous Occupation - Corporate affairs manager, satellite television broadcaster, Italy (1997-1999). Chief project officer, INVESCO Asset Management (1999-2003).

Personal Overview - Lived in East Anglia for a number of years before becoming Parliamentary candidate for the Harwich constituency. Most noted for his interest in public services and has consequently written a number of articles on issues including: empowering parents, decentralising the NHS and creating direct local police accountability. He has also supported local residents campaigning to safeguard the future of local GP surgeries, joining a team of local mums and dads determined to prevent the closure of a local school for children with special educational needs. His political ethos appears to favour a more localist approach, where power is devolved back to individuals, local groups or Councils. He has also called for VAT and Council Tax to be abolished in favour of a local sales tax to finance local Councils and has been a member of the Conservative Deregulation Panel. He also strongly favours an independent Britain. Is notable for putting forward the unprecedented motion of no confidence in Speaker Michael Martin which contributed to his resignation.
