SPY thriller meets comedy musical in the premier of a hilarious new production by the Mad About Theatre Company tonight.

Clacton Coastal Academy pupil Tom Woods won a writing competition to see his play Mission Implausible get the unique Mad About treatment.

The show is packed with cliched humour and modern twists, with numbers from Sister Act, On the Town and the Wiz.

The story follows the misfortunes of secret agent Kevin Cone - Agent 0099. Out of work and waiting for his next case, Kevin receives a call from HQ and accepts his mission to find a missing monarch.

With a series of flashbacks to various missions, and a round the world chase ending at Buckingham Palace, Kevin has a race against time to restore normality to the royal household.

Director Indi Allen said: "The Mad About team see this show as a celebration of all things British and royal, and with her majesty's 90th birthday in a few weeks' time, this is a perfect celebration."

Mission Implausible is at Clacton County High School at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 (£3 children) on the door.
