Legendary rocker Lemmy once famously said that his neighbours’ lawn would die if he moved in next door.

And now the gardeners at the Eden Project’s biodomes are going to have to take extra care as renowned rock band Motorhead are set to play the famous venue.

Motorhead will play at the venue, near St Austell, Cornwall on June 27 as part of the Eden Sessions 2015 programme, which also includes Elton John and Ben Howard.

The Ace Of Spades singer and his band will be joined by special guests, fellow rock giants the Stranglers.

Rita Broe, marketing director at the Eden Project, said: “We are thrilled beyond words to be able to announce a band that will rock the Biomes in a way the sessions have never heard before.

“This is a totally unique show and our first-ever hard rock session.

“Lemmy once said that if Motorhead moved in next door, your lawn will die.

“We’ll have to counsel the plants before he breaks into Ace Of Spades. To have the Stranglers as special guests promises a loud, proud and never-to-be-forgotten session.”

Since forming in 1975, Motorhead’s ear-splitting fusion of rock, metal and punk has appealed to fans across the board, young and old.

The band’s fast, heavy riffs earned them the reputation as the “world’s loudest rock band” and helped pave the way for the thrash and speed metal sub-genres.

Grammy-winners Motorhead have sold more than 20 million records worldwide and will play their first gig in Cornwall since 1983.

They are perhaps best known for their single Ace Of Spades, an all-time rock classic, while the fanged face that appears on their album artwork has become one of rock’s most recognisable figures.

Special guests the Stranglers, one of the longest surviving acts of the punk era, have created a unique sound that also spans prog rock, pop, metal and jazz.

Bass player Jean-Jacques Burnel said: “We are really looking forward to our first Eden Sessions show.

“Lemmy and I go way back and it’s always a great pleasure to play alongside Motorhead.”
