X Factor hopeful Scarlett Quinn, who ditched her husband from her double act to get to the next stage of the show, was dumped herself after forgetting the words to her audition song.

The singer from Brighton arrived at the audition stage as part of Kitten and the Hip with husband Ashley, but went solo after the judges offered her the chance.

She left the six-chair challenge stage in tears after she dried up seconds into her version of Duran Duran's Ordinary World, with Simon Cowell telling her it was "almost impossible" for him to put her through.

Judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini told her: "It is so frustrating to watch somebody that you know has potential let themselves down time and time again."

Earlier in the show Cheryl had been left in tears by Italian singer Andrea Faustini, who wowed the crowd at Wembley Arena with his version of Whitney Houston's I Didn't Know My Own Strength.

He got a standing ovation from Cowell and a place in Mel B's final six boys along with Jake Quickenden, Jordan Morris, Danny Dearden, Paul Akister and Jack Walton.
