AN evening of sheer musical indulgence awaits Mozart fans this Saturday at St Paul’s Church in Clacton.

The composer’s superb sacred works have long formed an important part of Clacton Choral’s repertoire, and this performance is no exception, including solos from Claire Coleman.

The Exsultate Jubilate, including the famous ‘Alleluia’ finale, showcases her pure soprano voice against organ accompaniment, and she also sings the elegant Regina Coeli with the full choir.

The concert also introduces exciting 14-year-old clarinettist Charlie Price, who is studying music among other subjects at Colchester Royal Grammar School and plays with great aplomb and sensitivity. He will perform Voi Che Sapete, made famous by Emma Johnson, and the exquisite slow movement from the Clarinet Concerto.

The main work of the evening is the rarely performed Litaniae Lauretanae, with choir and soloists (Claire, with Janet Bullard, Stephen Cviic and Tom Cogan). The choir will also sing Veni Sancte Spiritus, Ave Verum Corpus and the joyful Jubilate Deo, under the baton of musical director Gilli Dulieu.

Limited tickets are available on the door, priced £8.
