Teetotal comedian Russell Brand has reportedly bought a pub in Oxfordshire.

The comic lives in nearby Henley-on-Thames with wife Laura Gallacher, TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher's younger sister.

They have bought the Grade II-listed The Crown Inn, a 16th century coaching inn which was on the market in April with starting offers of £850,000, according to Mail Online.

Estate agent Rightmove described it: "The picturesque backdrop of the grounds makes the property an ideal choice for weddings and events and attracts plenty of trade throughout the year.

"The property has an additional two-bedroom self-contained cottage within the grounds."

The property has a large front paved patio area, gravel car park with 35 spaces and large rear lawned garden, with 120 seats.

Russell, who comes from Grays, has been sober since 2003, rejecting alcohol and substances after a well-documented history with addiction.

He is also vegetarian, and at times vegan.

In 2013, he told The Guardian: “It has been ten years since I used drugs or drank alcohol and my life has improved immeasurably. I have a job, a house, good friendships and generally a bright outlook. The price of this is constant vigilance because the disease of addiction is not rational… [Recovery] requires incredible support and fastidious structuring.”

Russell, 46, started out as a presenter on MTV and now lives quietly with two children, two dogs, eight cats and five chickens.
