NEWSQUEST – the company which publishes the Daily Gazette – is expanding and looking for an “enthusiastic and positive” salesperson to join the business.
The direct marketing side of the newspaper business, Newsquest Direct, has taken on two new sales executives since January after launching a new scheme to help local businesses.
It is now looking for a third.
While it has been helping national firms such as B&Q by putting their leaflets alongside its newspaper titles, it is now offering its targeted national  service to small, independent businesses such as hairdressers.
Nick Brown, sales director at Newsquest Direct, says the service has been made possible by a new initiative, which allows businesses to target their ideal customers by having the leaflets put alongside the papers to postcode sectors or delivery rounds likely to
contain their target audience.
He said: “We can identify a
customer’s audience and target campaigns to postcode sectors or rounds with a higher density of the target audience.
“This really does work.
“We had an example recently where a travel agent had a specific product they wanted to sell to over 55s with no children who were
cultured and affluent.
“We used our targeting tool and found where, in all likelihood, the majority of them lived, and put the leaflets out.
“There was such a good response, the first person who bought a holiday with them paid for the campaign in full.”
This initiative was launched in Essex and London in January.
A third region has now come on board, which the new sales executive would be responsible for  by developing existing contacts or by making new ones.
While it has not yet been revealed which geographical region it is, the job is a tele marketing role.
Mr Brown said: “This person will be managing their own territory.
“If you’re the sort of person who likes something completely new then this role is for you.
“I want someone enthusiastic and positive for this role. If that sounds like you we want to hear from you.”
