The Witham Business Club – a support network for new and established firms – has been officially launched.

Witham Chamber of Commerce members and Ignite Business Enterprises will provide workshops and open forums every Thursday, from 9.30am to 12.30pm, to help companies and individuals that want a bit more support.

Mayor Janet Money opened the club, which will meet at The Hub, in Newlands Shopping Centre, Newland Street.

Chamber member Tina Townsend said: “We felt there needed to more general advice out there on how to run a business and the pitfalls you can come across.

“There are people in the chamber who have been there, done that and got the T-shirt, so they are in a very good position to offer practical advice to any businesses already up and running and any just starting up.

“We are looking forward to what this club can offer.

“I think it is something this town needs because we have so many small businesses that are trying to kick off.

“We also have dozens of small businesses that people just run from their homes.”
