A “GOOGLE for traders” to help ward off bogus workmen has been launched across the Tendring area.

Founders of Trusted Traders Tendring Malcolm Everitt, 43, and Bradley Miller, 42, embarked on the venture to help protect the public against rogue tradespeople.

They aim to give the public peace of mind by vetting traders who sign up as members and having them adhere to a code of conduct.

The project was launched last week.

Mr Everitt said: “It’s important customers aren’t ripped off and the traders they employ are genuine people.

“So far it’s been a long process and we’ve invested lots of time and money in the business, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

“I’m hoping that after the official rollout, more people will become interested over time.

“However, people are really keen to get involved because they believe in it.”
