FRINTON is hoping flower power will see the town go for gold for the sixth year running at the Anglia in Bloom awards.

Judges visited to admire the town’s spectacular displays and awardwinning gardens.

Frinton in Bloom chairman David Foster said: “We took in the school, the Crescent Garden, Triangle Centre, Pedlars Wood and finished at the Rock Gardens by the Walings.

“We thought we were going to be in for a difficult time because of the wind and rain, but I think it went very well.

“The weather makes a difference because flowers close up when it’s cold and wet, but I think the judges had a cheerful smile on their faces.

“It’s been a really good team effort by all the individuals and organisations that have been involved.”

A huge team is involved in the mammoth planting effort.

“If we get gold again, we will be so pleased for everyone,” said Mr Foster.

Frinton is bidding to win back its “best small town” crown after a gap of two years.

It is also entering 12 specialist categories and has high hopes for the Crescent Garden.

The winners will be announced on September.
