A WOMAN has suffered injuries after a car crashed into a house in Clacton.

The serious accident happened shortly before 12pm today when the car collided with the porch of a house in Washford Gardens.

A woman in her 70s, who was inside the house, has suffered injuries and the air ambulance has been called.

East of England Ambulance Service duty operations manager Steve Box, who attended the scene said: “We believe the woman was struck by the car whilst she was stepping inside the house from the porch, she sustained serious injuries to both ankles.”

Steve added: “Our crews and the critical care team from the helicopter worked extremely hard to stabilise the woman at the scene before she was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridgeshire for further care.”

Two fire engines from Clacton were called to the scene and frefighters secured the site and gave a woman oxygen therapy.
