A GROUP of friends from Clacton got their kit off in aid of a cancer charity – leaving just strategically-placed socks to cover their modesty.

Men in the town decided to get in on the act after an internet sensation where women were encouraged to take ‘selfies’ – photos of themselves with a smartphone – without wearing make-up.

The bizarre craze has raised millions of pounds for good causes.

Now social networks, such as Facebook, have seen men take up the fundraising baton by stripping off to raise cash.

A group from Clacton joined in the fun and raised almost £600 for Cancer Research UK at the Three Jays pub in Jaywick.

Organiser Dean Mills said: “We just decided to do it at the last minute. I invited my friends on Facebook and quite a few were happy to join in.

“We’ve raised almost £600 for a good cause and had a great day.”

Other brave souls taking part in the stunt included Joe Ball, Warren Dean, Luke Dean, Thomas O'Dea, Steve Loudon, Scott Mills, Adam Scott, Jack Fairman, Daniel Shaw, Jimmy Clark, Joel Motton, Bryan Margerison, Robert Williamson, Tom Chivers and Danne Rousselle.

Pub owners Debs and Mick Broadbent donated £100 to the cause as well as letting the group use their venue for the charity effort.
