RAIL operator Greater Anglia has pledged more than £1million to improve services.
The region’s train company is investing in more resources and plans to work more closely with Network Rail.
It hopes the cash will help address issues caused by severe weather and a lack of availability of carriages.
Actions include: - A contract with Direct Rail Services to provide more trains on both local and intercity routes up to the end of the franchise in July.
- Review of contingency plans to get services back on track more quickly after disruption.
- Work with Network Rail to reduce the number of speed restrictions and stop engineering work over-running.
- Additional fleet advisor working with the operations team to provide 24 hours cover to minimise the impact of any faults.
- Extension of remote train monitoring systems which help identify faults before they cause delays.
Along with more targeted investment to tackle key causes of delays the initiatives amount to more than £1million despite the company’s franchise ending in four months’ time.
