GRATEFUL burglary victims at a church bookshop were delighted to receive a donation of a laptop from a good Samaritan.

The bookshop, attached to Trinity Methodist Church in Pier Avenue, Clacton, was raided by crooks on Sunday December 15.

Staff arrived on the Monday morning to find damage to the doors and windows, while a laptop and cash were stolen from inside.

But after reading the news in the Gazette, a generous benefactor stepped forward to boost the bookshop by donating a laptop.

Shop manager Liz Marshall said: “A man came in off the street and offered us this six-month old laptop.

“We were just blown away by this wonderful gesture.

“He wouldn’t even give us his name, but just wanted to help us get back on our feet after what happened."
